Amish Barn Cat DILIGENCE
Facilitating the Trap, Neuter, Return of Amish Barn Cats

It's very common for Amish homes to have at least one barn cat to help keep the rodent population under control and to protect both harvest and horse feed. The problem is that most of these cats are never spayed or neutered so there is a regular influx of kittens. The lucky ones are given away to others, whether another Amish family that just built a home or by advertizing to those that drive by with a simple sign that says "free kittens." There's no vetting involved, either in those taking the kittens in or of the kittens themselves.

When it comes to practicality, low cost spay and neuter clinics are not close to Amish communities. This would mean that the Amish family would have to contract with a Yoder Toter in order to drive to the clinic to drop the cat off and then contract a ride to pick the cat up again. These are often rather costly rides and so, do not become a priority. Because after all, it's 'just a barn cat.'

In order to help make an impact in the Amish communities, we're offering to coordinate with the family in order to schedule the spay or neuter at a nearby clinic. Once scheduled, we'll transport the feline to their appointment and return it once it's released from the clinic at no cost to the family. For those with multiple barn cats, we'll cover the cost of the first spay or neuter as an additional incentive.

Through TNRing their barn cats, they will have healthier felines that stay closer to the barn that they are defending.
